Our first hydroelectric site (1.65 MW) is on the Ruvyironza River, which is the southern-most tributary of the Nile River. This river flows north into the Ruvubu River, which then joins a river from Rwanda and flows into Lake Victoria. There is debate about the “true” source of the Nile River – with some defining it as the largest body of water feeding the Nile (Lake Victoria), or the longest tributary feeding the Nile (in Rwanda), or the southern-most tributary feeding the Nile (in Burundi).
